New year resolution

Hello, everyone! My name is Yuchen, happy new year!

Now is 2011, I have a biggest resolution this new year. The resolution is I want to be taller this year. Since I am only 61 inch, and I always stood in front of line of high school classmates, my new year resolution is being much taller! My goal is my height will be at least 65 inch at the end of this year. I know that I have to do more exercises, eat more, and sleep well this year, in fact, it is really hard to persevere every day even every week, but I am doing my my best on it. Hope my resolution will be come true this year!

By the way, hope everyone`s resolution will be come true too!

Time management

Time management is a necessary skill for me to study and learn. Time management give people an idea that how they can effisiontely to manage and use their time. For example, some people like make a list of they should do for a whole day and then they manage the stuff they have to do for the most important to least. These people follow the list which is arranged then finish them one by one. For example, I make a list that remind me what time I have what class to go to at the beginning of this quarter. The time management list includes Math, Chemistry and Chemistry engineering, since my major is Chemistry engineering, I have to take all of these kind of hard classes and finish them and get an A I wish at the end of this quarter. When I wake up in the morning, I check my time list everyday.

Travel

It is fun to travel around and see what is happening in other places. Especially traveling with family or friends is an enjoyable and fantastic experience which not only enhances the relationship between each others and also extend people`s view of the world and then learn different culture. Like, people may learn some customs from where they are going. Before people start happy travel, they usually need to find their favoirate place they want to go, what transportation is the best, and learn a couple of local language.

HW for Fri

1.First of all, teenagers work for their own current expenses. Young people want to buy clothes, and they want to save money to buy a car or a stereo or a television. For example, my cousin Celia works at a clothing store and her own cloths. Last week, she bought herself a nice leather jacket. And one of my friends bought himself a used car just from the money he made after school. Young people want to make money for their future. An example of this is saving money for an education after high school. My cousin Robert is doing this for his future.

2.The driving lesson I got from my fiance was a very distressing one. I did one wrong thing so he started shouting at me. The little incident occurred when he wanted me to make a U-turn in the middle of the street. As I was trying to do that,I turned the wheels too hard and the wheels hit the end of the curb. My fiance started yelling at me as if he were crazy. Oh, i forgot to tell you that when the tires hit the curb, the car stopped in the middle of the street. I guess that was why he was worried. So I calmly put the car in park and started to get out to let him drive since I obviously wasn't doing it the way he wanted. But he grabbed my arm and told me to finish getting the car out of the middle of the street. He also wanted me to move the car because there were cars coming in both directions. I decided after this incident that my fiance was not the right person to teach me to drive.

3.The way women are shown in TV commercials today has changed compared with 20 years ago. Twenty years ago, commercials mostly showed women as brainless housewives. In those commercials, women were concerned about getting the best laundry detergents, the softest toilet paper, or the tastiest soup. They were portrayed as sort of dumb and silly, as if the most important thing int the world was getting hamburger on sale. Women in commercials today are not just housewives. They are shown as professional working people, too. For example, in one telephone commercial, a woman with a briefcase is saying goodbye to her child and husband as she is about to catch a plane. And in another Dristan commercial I saw last night seemed like a normal, intelligent person.

It is not difficult to get success on chemical engineering. My major is chemical engineering which having three steps studying hard at class, participating the internship, and getting high GPA to be successful on it. Studying hard at class is the basic step. For instance, doing homework every day and handing in them on time help students comprehend what they have learned so far. Participating the internship also gives students opportunities to do some experiments out of class, like, how protons are separated from atom. Then, the most significant factor is getting a high GPA when students graduate. Students have to get a high GPA to find a job easily and a high wage job.

HW P34 2.14

Most students are anxious before taking test. There are some suggestions that are review, relax, and sleep to avoid anxiety before test. First, students need to review all of what they have learnt before taking test since they would not know how to answer questions if they did not prepare for the test. Second, after students sitting at the table they could do deep breath several times. This can help them mental relax. Last, students need to take a good sleep before they have a test.Sleeping well helps brain to get enough rest and this is the best way to combat anxiety.

Ch6 P104

Test always makes me anxious, even it is a quiz or I already reviewed for the test again again and again. Test which is only multiple choices is my favor test style, since I don`t need to worry about writing my opinion of a event or puzzle between true or false question. The biggest advantage of multiple choice is I could guess when I have no idea about what the correct answer is. For instance, I am taking music class now, and all of the quizzes are multiple choices. When I took my first quiz, I forgot which choice was correct about melody. However, I did not spend long time on this question because I knew each choice has 25% correction, so I just choose an answer which looked good to me. Then, when I checked my grade on the blackboard, I got 98 which means I got the correct answer on that question. Therefore, even though I don`t know the correct answer of the question sometime, I guess.

I found at least ten pages about the policy of plagiarism in college in USA.These policies of different colleges are similar. One is MIT, another is OU. Both of them are believe that plagiarism is a seriously academic cheating. The consequences of these two universities are same, the student who plagiarism on exam will get expulsion from college or university. Students whose degree will be revocable if they have any cheating records at OU. Plagiarism is a so bad illegal behavior in USA, especially to international students, they will be kick out off school if they plagiarism or cheating on exam.

The world is becoming a global village now, some people say there is only one language will be survived until the planet is the only home for all. Speaking one language is so convenient that all countries, governments, citizens can speak with each other without any obstacle. However, that is a backslide of humans development. Since the reason of geography, people invited over 200 kinds of language in this world, English, Chinese, French, German,Japanese and so on. All of them developed from different ancient language,English, French, German come from Latin and Greek, Chinese and Japanese come from Chinese characters. The world culture would be flat if only one language could survive. To show how each language differ with each, we need to introduce these several languages---Latin, Greek and Chinese character.
